At YAKITORI DINER THE HICKORY BIRD Umeda, eating and drinking comes to roughly 5,000-6,000 yen per person. With a course, you can start from 14 dishes at 4,500 yen.
Here is how the budget works out, depending on how you use the restaurant.
Ordering a la carte
Alongside the skewers we have 52 a la carte dishes and around 63 drinks.
A few skewers, two or three plates, two or three drinks. That is the usual shape of an evening, and it lands in the 5,000-6,000 yen range per person.
You can keep the starters light and order more skewers, or do the opposite and build the meal around Gumbo / Herb Rice or Prosciutto & Mashed Potato. Either works.
Finishing with House-made Basque Cheesecake or TKG cooked in chicken broth adds to that.
A course makes the bill predictable
For a gathering where the numbers are already fixed, a course is easier for whoever is organising it.

HICKORY BIRD full-experience course, 17 dishes / 5,500 yen
14 dishes with two hours of free-flow drinks from 35 varieties / 6,700 yen
17 dishes with two hours of free-flow drinks from 35 varieties / 7,700 yen
The gap between a course with free-flow drinks and one without is about 2,200 yen. If most of your party will have three drinks or more, the free-flow option makes the bill easier to predict. Details are on the course menu.
About the cover charge
We charge 418 yen per person as a cover charge.
We would rather you knew that in advance than found out on the night, so we write it plainly. Please read it as part of the budget figures above.
We accept cashless payment
As well as cash, we accept credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, JCB, AMEX, Diners), electronic money (QUICPay) and QR code payment (PayPay).
That makes it easy for one person to put the whole bill on a card and settle up with everyone afterwards.
If you want to keep the spend down
Come at 17:30, right as we open.
Starting early means the same length of visit feels less rushed. A few skewers, a couple of plates, and a lighter hand with the drinks – you will still get the full measure of the charcoal and the Cajun spice.
